For something simple like that 'a(a|b)*b|b(a|b)*a' example it works, but for this date-with-time-validating regular expression the generated state machine is.. not very visualizable. You can look at http://gehennom.org/~fis/re.png for an example, but it's a 8422x6504-sized png so looking at it can be a bit sluggish.
